Weekend at Plett

Weekend at Plett

We had some family visiting from the UK and wanted to spend a few nights away, so we decided to head to Plett for the weekend.

We booked into Adventurers Escape HQ (Eco Friendly) and reserved two chalets. On our way there, I received a message from the manager asking what time we would arrive, as they wanted to start the woodfire hot tubs for us. Talk about VIP treatment!

We arrived late in the afternoon and settled into the chalets. They had three chalets operational and three more under construction. The chalets we stayed in were on wooden stilts with a beautiful view of the forest. Each chalet had two bedrooms, each with an en-suite, a living room, kitchen, and veranda. There was a firepit at each chalet with a lovely wood-fired hot tub.

We decided to stay in and have a braai, but started off with a soak in the hot tub. Roger, in his infinite wisdom, decided to make sure the hot tub didn’t get cold, so he added four logs. Well, that was a mistake. Within 30 minutes, the water was so hot we couldn’t stay in it! Lesson learned: Roger is not to be trusted with firewood.

We spent the rest of the evening around the fire and enjoyed a wonderful braai. The next day, we went to Harkerville to cycle the Green Route, most of this route is easy, the last bit of single track is a bit more tricky, but you could avoid this by just following the gravel road back to the start. We had so much fun and saw the most amazing scenery. We did get a bit lost, but that added to the fun. Who needs a GPS when you have a sense of adventure?

Two hours later, we joined the rest of our party at the local market for breakfast. Nothing like a hearty meal to refuel after a morning of getting lost in the woods.

From there, we went to the beach and Beacon Isle for ice cream. It was so tranquil and peaceful at the beach. Ice cream and serenity – a perfect combo.

To end the day, we popped into a small wine farm, Luca Wines. We had an amazing cheese platter and tasted their three wines: one red, one white, and some bubbly. Their food looked amazing, and we will definitely be back. Wine and cheese – the ultimate way to unwind.

The next morning, we headed back home, but loved every minute of our busy weekend. So much to do in Plett and the surrounds. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
